Swimming Pool Safety: The Main Thing Needed for Safe Swimming

Swimming is a  very old leisure pursuit. From the distant stone-age to recent history it is one of the most enjoyable and healthy leisure activities.

In the past being able to swim was believed to be a necessity for a well trained person. Today, swimming pools are a major attraction in both summer and winter and swimming pool safety as well as the proper pool chemicals are the a primary element for a good time swimming.

Part of the allure of a swimming pool is its clear sparkling water.Opaque or off color water is not inviting to dive ito and may be dangerous. Cloudy water may be dangerous and is not inviting.  {Swimming pool chemicals, mainly chlorine, which comes in tablets, sticks and granules, can  have a major effect to the health of you and your pool.} Water balance is key to mainatining a healthy pool with minimal chemical use This needs to be tested daily and chemicals used every week to be most effective.

Safety with Chemicals

Pool chemical levels need to be correct for the healthiest and safest pool for children. Pool chemicals should be kept in a cool, dry place. Don’t swim in your pool for at least one hour after you have altered the chemical balance in your pool.

Don’t ever mix swimming pool chemicals with other swimming pool or other chemicals. fire or explosion can result.

If you don’t use your pool in the winter, there are steps you must take to close down your pool, but more important there are special pool chemicals to use when you are ready to swim again. The ph needs to be brought to around 8.0 then maintain it during the summer. Germs can grow if the ph balance isn’t correct in a swimming pool.

Too much chlorine is also unhealthy. The correct amount should be maintained at all times.

Safety

Although lakes, rivers and oceans are also lots of fun, good exercise, and don’t need chlorine granules many people around the world swim in swimming pools.

all the adults and children who are swimming should be aware of safety in swimming pools.

Swimming Pool Safety, particularly  with Children

A good fence encircling the pool that has a locked gate will protect small children from meandering in to see the gleaming water. For adequate swimming pool safety make sure non swimmers can’t climb over the fence.

Swimming pools were made to be used so a good barrier is just the first step. Adults need to see the toddlers around the pool.

When everyone is is by the pool the best safety precaution is an adult watching the jumping children, the first choice is an adult who has knowledge of swimming pool safety, CPR and lifesaving. An adult should be able to reach any child who is under three year’s old or is a non swimmer. It is always good for anyone under three or non swimmers to wear some kind of flotation device.

When you can’t always be near swimmers or children in a pool imake sure you have a long pole or life preserver so it is easy to help someone too far away to catch. Even someone who doesn’t swim can do this.

Paddling Pools

Plastic pools for very young children also need safety measures. They may not need swimming pool chlorine (tablets or granules) or other pool chemicals because the water might be changed frequently.

Remember:Swimming pool safety is just as valuable when the water is not deep because even one inch can be dangerous for a toddler.

Be sure to remove the pool when there is no adult to check on the children.

Swimming pool safety and swimming pool chemicals need carefulness from every adult present by the pool who can swim.  Taking precautions like these mean that, your swimming session  will be more enjoyable because it is anxiety free.
