Van + Living + Travel = Fun

without comments

A good choice for anyone that is looking to save money on expenses when they travel, will definitely want to check out the benefits of van living.  For example, if your goal is to save money, then a van fits that bill perfectly.  How? Well, I’ll give you a few examples.

You can usually buy less gas when you travel in a van, due to the better gas mileage, when compared to a RV being used for travel.  Therefore, using less gasoline means that you won’t have to spend as much to cover those miles of highway.

It is much more convenient to find a good space for a van each night that won’t cost you an arm and a leg.  Vans, especially cargo vans, blend in easily in residential, commercial and industrial areas, negating the need to pay for a spot at a RV park every night.  You will definitely save money.

Vans offer cheaper operating expenses, when compared to RV’s, and therefore they are cheaper to maintain and service.  You can usually get a van serviced at any regular dealer, or auto lube service without too much extra difficulty or expense.  The same can’t be said for RV’s that are significantly more complicated to maintain and service.

I have covered the positive aspects of van living and travel, but how about the negatives?

Vans are tight on space, when compared to recreational vehicles.  It’s true that a van is going to restrict the room you have.

Vans may not be welcome at some RV parks.  While it’s good to have the option to stay anywhere you can park for free, occasionally, you want the amenities that an RV park offers.

It’s unfortunate, but van living has a stigma with many people, especially authority figures.  While you are just trying to travel and live for less, some people that you encounter along the way, may not understand your way to see the sites.  Hence the term stealthy van living.  Basically, living and traveling in your van without anyone knowing about it.
